Description: Children’s literature often presents challenges in vocabulary, descriptive language, and the use of nonsense or gibberish words. This workshop will provide you with the tools to translate text into ASL without sacrificing content, while preserving the fun and linguistic integrity of children’s literature.
Educational Outcomes: At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify challenging elements to interpret in children’s literature
Apply ASL parameters to translate identified elements of children’s literature without reliance on English vocabulary
Retain the purpose of identified elements in ASL translations of children’s literature
