The presenter will discuss and provide examples of ASL literary devices used in storytelling and ASL poetry. Using English texts that incorporate rhyming, rhythm, and other English literary devices, participants will be guided through exercises and activities demonstrating how these devices can be incorporated to ensure that students that are Deaf have equal access.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to
provide four examples of literary devices in ASL literature;
successfully interpret an excerpt from literature using ASL literary devices with 80% accuracy;
identify four literary devices in English poems or excerpts from prose with 80% accuracy.

Registrants can access this workshop after the event for a limited time; however, in order to receive a certificate of completion or RID CEUs, registrants must participate in the live event.
About the Presenter
Casey J. Analco, B.A. is currently working as a content developer at Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He loves to spend time with his family. He graduated from Gallaudet University with a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics. He is considering pursuing a Ph.D., focusing on his area of passion: ASL Literature.
